Galerie výtvarného umění v Ostravě
Výstava Dělník je smrtelný, práce je živá, kterou připravila Renata Skřebská, kurátorka Galerie výtvarného umění v Ostravě (GVUO), představuje dosud nezpracované téma práce ve výtvarném umění od počátku 20. století do současnosti. Zastoupeni jsou nejen autoři již etablovaní, jako například Jan Zrzavý, Otto Gutfreund, Bohumil Kubišta, Adriena Šimotová nebo Stanislav Kolíbal, ale i střední a nejmladší generace, například Zbyněk Sedlecký (1976), Václav Buchtelík (1990) či Filip Nádvorník (1995). Výstava bude zahájena v úterý 22. září v 17 hodin. V ostravském Domě umění bude k vidění do 3. ledna 2021. Výstava byla prodloužena do 21. února 2021.

Workers'and Trade Union Press in the Kladno Region in the Interwar Period

This master's thesis addresses the functioning of the workers' press in Kladno District during the interwar period (1918-1938). The theoretical part describes early days of mining and metallurgical industry in this region with a special attention being paid to the development of the Pražská železářská společnost and Poldina huť. Furthermore, this chapter outlines the growth of the town Kladno and its national composition until the end of the researched period. The chapter continues with providing a detailed description of work and private lives of Kladno workmen during the First Czechoslovak Republic. Trade unions and changes in legislation are discussed as they directly impacted the key professions in Kladno District - miners and steelworkers. Finally, the last section of the theoretical part is dedicated to the beginnings of the workers' press in the region, namely the paper Svoboda which played an essential role in this area. The practical part studies five titles from Kladno District, for which the local workmen constituted the target audience. Dělnické listy, Stráž svobody, Naše hory hutě - Horník, Strojník a topič, and Poldi Nachrichten were chosen as they represented various groups of publishers (political parties, trade unions, or organizations). Motivation and stimulation in selected organization

This thesis aims to explore the degree of motivation and stimulation in the selected company. Through appropriate methodology analyzes whether the employee incentive program is perceived, how they operate and whether there are any gaps. For this is the conclusion of this work suggested several options for how the situation could be improved in the company.

Workers of Ken Loach

Ken Loach have been creating films of social realism for more than fifty yers. He walked a long way to I, Daniel Blake (2016) since Cathy Come Home (1966).
I'm focused on a topic of labourers/workers in Loach's films in my thesis.
Labourer/Worker is defined as an adult person, which makes his living with his own hand or he/she were if the system would allow it. The chosen theme and selection of films, which I'm focused on, caused that I'm giving the same space both political and social sides of the class inequality. Films, I tried to analyse from the given point of view are Riff-Raff (1991), The Navigators (2001) and I, Daniel Blake (2016). Also, I briefly take a look at Days of Hope (1975) and the award-winning film Kes (1969).

The Genealogy of the Plzeň Revolt on June 1, 1953: An Analysis of Public Collective Protests of the Plzeň City Population in the Years 1948-1953

The presented dissertation thesis analyzes one of the largest protests of the Czechoslovak Stalinism-era - the Plze revolt against the currency reform in June 1953. From a conceptual perspective, the work draws on the theory of the so-called new social movements. Therefore it sets the well-known Plze incident into the context of previous protest actions that occurred in the Plze region in the course of the years 1948-1953. This method enables the author to chart the development of several varied protest cultures which had been employed in particular parts of society in Western Bohemia on a long term basis and which inspired the inception and the course of the Plze revolt in the year 1953. This way the work offers not only a considerably more precise critical description of the June protests but also their cultural genealogy. By the means of this genealogy the author reveals the structure of the main social movements that took part in the revolt and an associated complex of social conflicts that caused the protests. There were in particular the following three: a socially-motivated strike movement of industrial blue-collars, a pro-western movement of both student and blue-collar youth and a latent tension within the communist party which was becoming evident through a passive resistance of its rank...

Motivation and Stimulation in a Chosen Company

This bachelor thesis deals with motivation and stimulation of employees in a company DURA Automotive CZ, k. s. in Blatná. Thesis is devided into two parts. The first part is a literature review with theoretical basis for the practical part. For the practical part of the thesis we carried out a research that deals with sources of motivation and stimulation which affect employees. By the research, the employees work in the creative, friendly and relaxed work environment with the place for creating their own system of values. For employees the greatest value was the wide benefit range. Other important values for the office workers were enough competences and confidence in them, centrainty of employment and the possibility of personal fulfillment. For labourers cectrainty of employment and clear rules were important. One of the big problems was fluctuation in numbers of labourers 82% interviewed labourers have worked in the company for less then 5 years. The labourers aren't satisfied with their salary. 77% of labourers are dissatisfied or rather dissatisfied. The labourers would see their ideal salaries at about 2.7 times higher the their actual salaries in the company. The office workers aren't satisfied with their salaries either. They haven't got enough competences and possibilities for career growth. To improve motivation a stimulation a plan was designed, how to change the benfit offer, to be more flexible and individual.
